01 / YOUR PROJECT, UP CLOSE

Useful from the
first field.

These are working Lite features you can use with your own managed game data.

01
Included

Go beneath the surface.

Browse GameObjects, Components, and ScriptableObjects. Follow private fields into nested managed objects, arrays, lists, dictionaries, and structs.

02
Included

Try a supported change.

Edit supported managed values with UDB's explicit editing controls and protections. Review your changes in the separate UDB edit history.

03
Included

Keep your place.

Navigate through your data, use basic filters, and bookmark a useful path so you can return to it later.

04
Included

See the value change.

Auto-Refresh, basic Trace scope, inline differences, and row highlights work while you browse. Adjust the refresh cadence to suit the investigation.

05
Included

Make it easy to read.

Choose from 20 included themes and adjust colors, fonts, and layout. Ordinary appearance settings are available in Lite.

06
Included

Understand the member.

Read type information and static-field or method metadata. Inspect method signatures and prepare primitive arguments; invoking methods stays in Full.

TWO BOUNDARIES TO KNOW

A snapshot.
A short history.

Limited

Pins keep a frozen snapshot.

Lite pins capture a value once. They are not live watchlist subscriptions and do not continue reading the original project path.

Limited

Row tooltips keep two recent changes.

The history slot count is fixed at two. This limits sampled row history, not the number of edits you may make. Ordinary tooltips remain available.

Inline tracking observes sampled changes. It can miss changes between refreshes; complex-object state hashing is a Full feature.

02 / GET A FEEL FOR THE FULL TOOLKIT

Try the controls.
Explore the samples.

Selected advanced panels use the real UDB interface with fixed recordings or isolated, in-memory sample data.

SAMPLE / NOT LIVE

Sample controls change the preview's local data. They do not run advanced tools against your project.

A

History you can explore.

Open graph, text log, and analytics panels with fixed recordings. Try zoom, pan, channel selection, and range markers.

Full executionRecord new history and follow live project pins.

B

A tour of the deeper tools.

Explore Deep Scanner, Live Observer, Code Detective, Visualizer, and Search/Bind panels using local samples. Navigate and compose where the preview allows it.

Full executionScan your project, observe live data, execute pipelines, bind targets, or save the setup.

C

Different ways to see data.

Try sample row styles, appended metadata, dashboard widgets, and the Asset Gallery. Compare memory-estimation modes on owned sample arrays and objects.

Full executionApply advanced data rules and dashboards, collect project assets, or estimate project data.

Preview or Info? A Preview entry opens an interactive sample. An Info entry explains a feature and its purpose. Not every advanced tool has an interactive preview.

The native sample exception. The memory preview owns one isolated NativeArray to demonstrate an estimate. These are estimates, not exact allocation measurements; the isolated native payload estimate excludes allocator overhead. General native collections and GPU inspection remain excluded from Lite.

03 / CHOOSE THE DEPTH YOU NEED

Start with Lite.
Grow into Full.

Keep the core inspection workflow for free. Choose Full when you need advanced tools to work on your own project.

04 / WHEN YOU HAVE THE PACKAGE

One familiar object.
One useful discovery.

The public download is being prepared. Once it is published, start with a small object whose data you already know.

Read the UDB field guide
  1. 01

Keep one edition in the project.

Full and Lite use the same UDB type identities. Do not install their scripts side by side.

  2. 02

    Open the Lite browser.

After importing Lite, choose Tools → Universal Data Browser Lite in the Unity Editor.

  3. 03

    Start with a known GameObject.

Select it and use Inspect in UDB Lite ► from its context menu. Follow an attached component into a private field or collection, then bookmark the path.

  4. 04

    Try a supported value edit.

Use the editing controls deliberately and read the result. Persistence depends on the target, Editor mode, and Unity serialization. Read the editing guide ↗

The UDB field guide also describes Full features. Use this page for Lite's availability and limits; Lite's in-tool help explains its preview controls.

A FEW USEFUL DETAILS

Before you
start exploring.

Ask DeadBeak
Is this a timed trial?

No. UDB Lite is a free, untimed edition with a defined feature scope. The public download link will be added after publication.

Do the advanced previews read my project?

No. They use fixed recordings, in-memory sample objects, or temporary assets they own. Preview controls affect those samples. Live scans, advanced recording, project binding, and saving remain locked.

Does “two history entries” mean two edits?

No. It is the number of recent sampled changes kept in a row-history tooltip. It is not an edit allowance. Supported editing is included, and the UDB edit history is separate from sampled row history.

Will a pin keep updating after I navigate away?

Lite pins are frozen, one-time snapshots. They do not keep the source object, live access path, or read delegate. Live watchlists and recording belong to Full.

Are themes and custom data styles the same thing?

No. Lite includes ordinary appearance controls and all 20 bundled themes. Data-driven Style Manager rules, appended metadata, and dashboards have selected sample previews; applying those advanced rules to your project is a Full feature.

Can I use Lite alongside Full? Is UQL included?

Install one UDB edition per project because Full and Lite share UDB type identities. UQL and Serializer are not included in Lite. UQL has a separate demo track and planned full-package integration. Explore UQL ↗
